Bus Connections
The Capitol South Metro Station connects passengers to other bus systems in the Washington DC region. From this station, passengers can transfer to WMATA Metrobus and DC Circulator. The map below shows you where to board your bus from the station. Consult the map and bus stop information for routing and schedule information about each route serving the Capitol South Station.
Capitol South Metro Station's Escalators
The Metro System in Washington has more escalators than any other transit system in North America. Three of them can be found at the Capitol South Station. Although the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is trying to catch up on escalator maintenance, out-of-service escalators are the norm in many stations.
Unlike indoor mall or airport escalators, the escalators at Capitol South Station have no covering/canopy and face extreme temperatures that can cause breakdowns. Not only rain can cause electrical failures, but it can also make the escalators slippery. The metro station does have one set of cement steps. If you all 3 escalators are broken, 351 steps will take you to the top.
