The Georgetown Metro Connection, also known as the blue shuttle, is an express bus providing a quick connection to Georgetown from the Rosslyn Metro Station in Arlington, VA and the Dupont Circle Metro Station in Washington DC.
The Georgetown Metro Connection serves all metrobus stops in Georgetown. All buses arrive at each bus stop every 10 minutes, Monday-Sunday. The bus stop is easily recognized by a blue and yellow sign.
Because there is no metro station anywhere near Georgetown, taking the Georgetown Metro Connection is the best way to visit Georgetown. Another option is taking the Georgetown - Union Station route of the DC Circulator bus.
Getting to Georgetown
To get to Georgetown, take the Georgetown Metro Connection (GS2) shuttle from either the Rosslyn Metro Station (Blue and Orange lines) in Arlington VA or the Dupont Circle Metro Station (Red line) in Washington DC.
From Rosslyn Metro Station: Exit the metro station through the "East Side Forth Myer Drive" exit. Walk left to the end of the block. The bus stop is located at North Moore Street. You will see five bus stops labeled A, B, C, D, E. Wait for the shuttle at bus stop "E".
From Dupont Circle Metro Station: Exit the metro station using the "Connecticut Ave & 19th Street NW" exit. Cross the road and walk one block south on 19th Street. The bus stop is located at the intersection of 19th Street and Sunderland Place. Wait for the shuttle at bus stop "W".

The Georgetown Metro Connection fare can be paid using cash, a SmarTrip card, or a Georgetown Metro Connection Pass. If paying with cash, exact change is required because bus drivers do not carry cash.
SmarTrip Card
: a rechargeable, plastic farecard that can be used to pay fares and transfers on the Georgetown Metro Connection, DC Circulator bus, Metrobus, Metro, and Metro parking. The card costs $5 (not including fare) and is available from vending machines in metro stations.Georgetown Metro Connection Pass: a date-specific pass that allows unlimited rides for the calendar month indicated on the pass. Monthly passes can be purchased for $30 online at commuterdirect.com or in person at the Georgetown BID, and the Rosslyn Commuter Store.
Georgetown Metro Connection Transfers
The Georgetown Metro Connection bus uses a paperless transfer system. To receive a transfer, a SmarTrip card must be used to pay the bus fare. Passengers using cash do not get a transfer and must pay the full bus fare when transferring from Metro.
Metro passengers transferring to a Georgetown Metro Connection bus only pay $0.50 cents to board the bus when using a SmarTrip card to pay the fare.
