Dupont Circle Metro Station on the red line of the Metro system is the closest station to the Embassy of Vietnam. The station has two exits; leave through the 19th Street Exit at 19th St NW and Connecticut Ave. From the station, it is approximately a 4-minute walk to the embassy. U.S. Citizens
U.S. Citizens are required to obtain a visa when traveling to Vietnam. Also your passport must have more than six months' validity. A traveler may obtain a visa or a visa exemption document from a Vietnamese embassy prior to traveling to Vietnam
An alternative is a Visa Approval Letter, which is a document (approved by the Immigration Office) that allows you to enter and exit Vietnam for a given time period. With the approval letter, you can pick up your visa upon arrival at one of the three international airports in Vietnam: Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi), Tan Son Nhat Airport (Ho Chi Minh City), Cam Ranh Airport (Nha Trang) and Danang Airport (Da Nang).
The Visa Approval Letter is usually issued in group through a travel agency. Therefore, you may find your name and other information in the same letter as other people. Be wary of unscrupulous travel agencies, which have been charging very high fees for these visas. Travelers should know that Vietnam has both a visa fee and a visa-processing fee and sometimes it varies from person to person. For current fees, email the Vietnamese Embassy
