If you are a young professional with an annual salary of $60,000, do not panic. If you budget well, you can still live in the city. However, you will have to get rid of your car, use public transportation, and get a roommate. You could also get a studio apartment or live in a group house. To qualify for an apartment you have to earn 2.5 to 3 times the market rent. If you don't earn the required amount, you will need a co-signer to back up your income.
