Metro Platform
The Rosslyn Metro Station is an underground station with 2 split platforms, one on each level. Each train goes in two directions named for the last stop on the line.
Orange Line: Vienna/Fairfax-GMU --- New Carrollton
The Orange Line goes in two directions: New Carrollton and Vienna/Fairfax-GMU.
Silver Line: Wiehle-Reston East --- Largo Town Center
The Silver Line goes in two directions: Wiehle-Reston East and Largo Town Center.
Blue Line: Franconia-Springfield --- Largo Town Center
The Blue Line goes in two directions: Franconia-Springfield and Largo Town Center.
The trains are not on the same platform. If your train is on the Blue Line and you want to go to Franconia-Springfield, go downstairs to the bottom platform. This is also true for the Orange Line trains to Vienna. If you're heading towards either the Orange-Line's New Carrolton or the Blue-Line's Largo-Town Center, go to the upper level.
Use the Metro's Trip Planner to find out exactly how to get where you want to go in the Washington DC area, using Metrobus, Metro and local bus systems. The Trip Planner asks you where you're starting and when and where you want to go. Then it finds the best way for you to get there using the Metro system and local bus systems.
Bus Connections
Rosslyn Station is a critical transit hub for Northern Virginia and the Washington Metropolitan region. From this station, passengers can transfer to WMATA Metrobus, DC Circulator, and Arlington Transit (ART). The bus routes serving the station are listed below.
The map below shows you where to board your bus from the Rosslyn Station. Consult the bus stop information from table below for routing and schedule information about each route serving the Rosslyn Station.
Rosslyn Metro Station's Escalators
The station has 4 escalators, each one measuring a continuous 205 feet, 8 inches in length. The escalators are a tourist destination in themselves. In fact, station managers are constantly asked whether the escalators are the longest in the world.
Rosslyn's length is third among the Washington Metro system's 572 moving stairs, behind the world's longest uninterrupted span at Wheaton (230 feet), and Medical Center (210 feet), both on the Red Line.
A ride to the top, without walking up, clocks in at 2 minutes and 39 seconds. To avoid accidents and general wear on the long multiple web drives, Metro's escalators run at a leisurely speed of 90 feet per minute. Shopping malls typically whisk shoppers away at 120 feet a minute.
