The Museum of the American Indian is located right in between two stations: L’Enfant Plaza Station and Federal Center SW Station. If you exit the metro train at the L’Enfant Plaza Station, make sure to leave through the Maryland Ave/Smithsonian Museums Exit (at 7th St & Maryland Ave). You could end up blocks from the museum if you leave through the wrong exit. You will see signs directing people to the Smithsonian museums. Use the map below to find suggested routes to the museum.

From L’Enfant Plaza Station Approximately 0.4 mile, 7 min walk Leave the station through the Maryland Ave/Smithsonian Museums Exit (at 7th St & Maryland Ave). Walk two blocks east on Maryland Ave SW toward the U.S. Capitol Building.

From Federal Center SW Station Approximately 0.3 mile, 6 min walk Head east on D St SW toward 3rd Ave SW. Turn left at 3rd Ave SW. Turn left at Independence Ave SW. Turn right at Maryland Ave SW.
