Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) is located in the communities of Dulles and Chantilly in Virginia, just 26 miles (41.6 km) west of downtown Washington DC. It is the largest airport in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Also, it is one of the nation's busiest airports with over 23 million passengers a year.
Airport Parking Garages
The Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) has 24,000 parking spaces at hourly, daily and economy rates. Note: cars parked in any parking lot or garage for more than 45 days will be towed at the owner's risk and expense.
Hourly Parking Lot
Hourly parking is available directly in front of the main airport terminal. Hourly parking is ideal if you are parking for only 2 hours or less. This area also has a section dedicated to Valet Parking Service. Yes, nothing beats having your car brought to you right at the terminal doorsteps after hours of flying. However, this option is not the most economical for many travellers.
Parking Garage 1 is located directly behind the Hourly Parking Lot and is connected to the main airport terminal via a y-shaped underground pedestrian walkway equipped with two moving sidewalk systems. It has a total capacity of 4,680 snsor-equipped parking bays and is also served by free airport shuttle service.
Parking Garage 2 is located just across the western side of the main airport terminal, has a total capacity of 3,685 parking spaces. It is connected to the main airport terminal via an elevated walkway and is also served by shuttle vehicles.
Cell Phone Waiting Area
If you are picking up a passenger, use the Cell Phone Waiting Area located at the intersection of Rudder Road and Autopilot Drive. No commercial vehicles are allowed in this area. This is a free lot. The maximum waiting time is 1 hour. While waiting, you can keep track of arriving flights by calling (703) 572-6240. Be ready to provide the flight number.
Economy Parking Lots
The Blue, Green, Gold, and Purple lots are located to the northeast of the main airport terminal and can be reached from the Dulles Airport Access and Toll Rd. Free shuttle buses transport passengers to and from the economy parking lots.
The airport also provides Free Shuttle Buses which take passengers from all Daily Garages and Economy Lots and vice-versa. Shuttle buses operate every 8 to 10 minutes. For more information, call Dulles Parking Customer Service at (703) 572-4500.
Airport Parking Charges
Parking fees are paid when exiting the parking garage or lot. Payments can be made using cash, American Express, Carte Blanche, Diners, Discover, MasterCard, Visa, and personal checks.
