Ford's Theatre is located near Metro Center Station. Metro Center has four exits. When getting off the station, take the "11th Street Exit". Ford's Theatre is also accessible via Gallery Place-Chinatown Station, but you will have to walk a little further to reach your destination. Gallery Place has three exits; leave the station through the "9th Street Exit". Use the map and directions below to find suggested routes to the theater.

From Metro Center Station
Approximately 0.2 mile, 5 min walk
Washington DC Leave the station through the "11th Street Exit".
Walk straight to the corner of 11th and F Streets NW.
Turn left at F St NW.
Turn right onto 10th St NW.

From Gallery Place-Chinatown Station
Approximately 0.2 mile, 5 min walk

Ford's Theatre

Ford's Theatre is the place where President Lincoln was shot in 1865. A visit to Ford's Theatre includes entry to the theatre, the Petersen House and the Center for Education and Leadership. Visitors also have the option of visiting the newly renovated Ford's Theatre Museum.

The museum tells the story of Abraham Lincoln's presidency, from his arrival in Washington DC in 1861 to the legacy he left. The exhibits also paint a picture of Washington DC, and the United States during Lincoln's presidency.

Ford's Theatre features a remarkable collection of historic artifacts, including the derringer that John Wilkes Booth used, as well as the clothing and boots that President Lincoln wore the night of his assassination.

Admission

Admission is Free. However, all visitors two years of age or older must have a ticket to visit the theatre. There is a convenience charge associated with reserving advance tickets.

Hours of Operation

The Ford's Theatre is a working theatre. As a result, there are times when visitors will not be able to enter the theatre or museum due to rehearsals and matinee performances.

The hours of operation are:

8:30 a.m.: Box Office Opens (except Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day)

9:00 a.m.: Site opens

4:00 p.m.: Final entry into the museum

4:30 p.m.: Final entry into the theatre

5:30 p.m.: Final entry into the Petersen House and Center Exhibits
