The National Building Museum is located right accross the street from the Judiciary Square Station on the Red line of the Metro System. The metro station has two exits; make sure to leave the station through the "F Street Exit".

The museum is also accessible via Gallery Place-Chinatown Station, but you will have to walk a few blocks. Gallery Place has three exits; leave the station through the "7th and G Street/Arena Exit". Use the map and directions shown below to find suggested routes.

The Museum

The National Building Museum focuses on architecture, design, engineering, construction, and urban planning. Exhibition subjects range from the art of drawing architecture and visions for affordable housing to contemporary ideas for building sustainable residences.

Admission

$8 - Adults

$5 - Youth (ages 3 - 17); students with ID; seniors (age 65 and over)

$3 - Ages 3 and up, entrance to the Building Zone* only (appropriate for ages 2-6). This includes 45 minutes of play time; tickets are available every hour, on the hour and are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

The National Building Museum participates in Blue Star Museums, a program that offers FREE admission to museums for all active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

The National Building Museum is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and occasional special events.

Parking

The museum has metered parking available on F, 5th, and G Streets (first come, first served). The parking meter hours of operation are:

F and 5th Street Meters:

7 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Monday - Friday, 2 hour parking.

G Street Meters:

7 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Monday - Friday, 2 hour parking.

Some meters are active on Saturdays.

Nearby parking lots/garages are located at the Verizon Center (entrances are on 6th Street and at the corner of 7th and H Streets), at the corner of 7th and F Street (across from the Verizon Center), and at the PMI Garage and 4th and G Streets.
