SoberRide Taxicab - Washington DC

Washington DC Taxicab

SoberRide Taxi is a free taxicab ride program for potential drunk drivers in an effort to prevent traffic fatalities related to alcohol. Offered by the nonprofit Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP), SoberRide offers Washington DC residents a safe way home on high-risk holidays.

SoberRide Taxi operates during the December to January holiday season, Saint Patrick's Day, Independence Day and Halloween, providing free taxi rides home up to a $50 fare. Callers are financially responsible for anything over $50.

Do not call a taxicab company directly for SoberRide service as the ride will not be covered under this program. All requests for SoberRide taxicabs must be called to and dispatched from 800-200-8294 (TAXI) or #8294 (TAXI) from your AT&T wireless phone during the program hours.

A Few Things to Note

You must be 21 years old or older to use the SoberRide Taxi service.

SoberRide Taxicabs cannot be reserved or scheduled in advance. To receive a ride, you must call the number above during the program hours. A SoberRide call operator will direct your request to the correct participating cab company.

Calls to the SoberRide Taxi Service must originate in Washington DC or in one of the following locations:

Washington DC Taxicab Maryland: Montgomery and Prince George's Counties; and the Cities of Rockville, Bowie, College Park, Gaithersburg, Greenbelt and Takoma Park.

Washington DC Taxicab Virginia: Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William and Eastern Loudoun Counties; and the Cities of Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax, Manasas and Manasas Park.
