The Art Gallery

The Corcoran Gallery of Art is the largest private museum in Washington DC. The Corcoran's permanent art exhibitions may be considered a bit less fascinating. However, the special exhibitions are worth the price of admission. The Corcoran Gallery of Art offers FREE admission to all active duty military personnel and up to five family members from Memorial Day, May 28, through Labor Day, September 3, 2012 as a part of the Blue Star Museums program.

Free Drop-in Gallery Tours

Highlights Tours are offered daily at noon; at 7 p.m. on Thursdays; and at 3 p.m. on weekends, and provide an overview of the Corcoran history and exhibitions. These tours are free with admission and last approximately 45 minutes. Ask about tours at the Admissions Desk, and meet your guide in the Atrium.

Docent tours of Richard Diebenkorn: The Ocean Park Series are offered Saturdays and Sundays at 3 p.m. throughout the exhibition.

Docent Tours

Guided tours of the Gallery are available with Corcoran College of Art + Design docents each Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. and are free with the price of admission. Tours last approximately 30 minutes with the opportunity afterwards to discuss the exhibition with the students, most of whom are practicing artists. College docent tours are available upon request, as well.
